The young men will be learning and teaching from a new youth curriculum beginning this January entitled "Come Follow Me". The new program will teach as the Savior taught by following His example. The young men will be able to participate in selecting monthly lessons that fall under a general topic. An open dialogue will be encouraged while calling upon the teachings of Christ to help our young men develop a testimony of gospel principles.
Each quorum advisor and the Young Men's Presidency encourage each young man to use their written scriptures. Electronic scriptures are not encouraged on Sunday meetings or at Duty to God lessons. The purpose of this is to help the young man become familiar with navigating and studying from his scriptures just as he will need to on a mission. Parents' encouragement of their youth to bring their scriptures each week is greatly appreciated.
If you should have any questions on the "Come Follow Me" curriculum, please contact one of the YM Presidency members and/or visit LDS.org.

Priest Quorum Duty to God
With the announcement of young men being able to serve a mission at the age of 18 at General Conference, the Priest Quorum will have a special focus on mission preparation in their DTG activities. Each Priest should have his own "Preach My Gospel" manual to work from in addition to his DTG and "For the Strength of Youth" manuals. Each week it will be required that a Priest Quorum member bring each of these resources and his scriptures.
The Priests will be encouraged to develop lessons and practice sharing messages and their testimonies. The Priests also have opportunities to visit Ward members in a companionship at the direction of the Bishop. We will also focus on studying from printed scriptures. Electronic devices are discouraged during church.
Please let the YM Presidency know if your son does not have any resource listed above or if you should have any questions.
Thank you,
Br. Schmidtke
